Our Sustainability Efforts

For us, contributing to a sustainable society has always been important in every way we can. The products we develop are designed to preserve the strength and longevity of textiles, which in turn helps protect the environment and reduce the impact of consumption on society. We also support local community organizations through sponsorships and actively work to promote a positive and sustainable company culture.

R290 – Future-proof refrigerant for energy and environment

Innovation and product development are both a priority and an ongoing effort at NIMO – largely to ensure that products are always both energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. As part of this initiative, the previously used synthetic refrigerants in drying cabinets are being replaced with R290 – a natural alternative with significantly lower climate impact.

Halving energy use and doubling capacity brings sustainability benefits to NIMO's production

NIMO's new painting line is a success. The result has now been recognised in the industry magazine Ytforum as a great example of sustainable and innovative business development. “The result was actually even better than we dared to hope," says Mikael Fröjdendahl, production manager for sheet metal and painting at NIMO.

The biggest drain on electricity in municipalities is the improper use of washing and drying equipment in laundry rooms

Energy is draining away in the laundry rooms of various municipal service organisations in Sweden. Electricity is being consumed unnoticed, and completely unnecessarily. With simple energy-saving solutions, better know-how and awareness, waste can be avoided. The biggest drain on energy is improper use of equipment, for example when energy-saving features such as timers stop working and are not replaced.

HSB chooses Nimo Eco Dryer 2.0

At Rinkebysvängen in the northwest of Stockholm, the queue for the tenants’ laundry room used to be very long. In response to complaints, HSB invested in new, efficient and environmentally friendly drying cabinets from Nimo. “For environmental reasons, we’ve stopped using the old dryers that pump in hot air. We’ve chosen the NIMO ECO Dryer 2.0 instead,” says HSB’s Public Relations Manager, Erik Juhlin.

Dry sustainably - increase the lifespan of your textiles

Sustainable clothing care is about how we extend the life of our clothes and how energy-efficient clothing care is. In order to raise awareness of sustainable clothing care, Nimo has been in contact with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, which in its report “Information on Sustainable Consumption of Textiles” wants to increase consumer knowledge of the environment and health impact of textiles.

Swedish municipality of Karlstad chooses energy efficient drying cabinets from NIMO

Anyone who has visited a preschool or primary school has likely noticed that drying cabinets filled with wet clothes are running almost constantly. The reason, of course, is the need to dry children's wet clothes after joyful and active play outdoors in rainy and rough weather—but it’s also because traditional drying cabinets are equipped with timers, which means they continue running even after the clothes are already dry.

Circular economy – why the drying cabinet contributes

What exactly is a circular economy? Well – instead of making, buying, using and then throwing things away, a circular economy aims to make the most of what’s been made for as long as possible instead of just producing new stuff. This means, among other things, that it’s important to build machines that can be repaired and parts replaced. This allows many years of use of the same drying cabinet.
