Scope and Application
In order to maintain high business ethics, manage environmental matters responsibly, protect human rights, and promote health and safety in the workplace, NIMO has established a Code of Conduct that applies to all employees and business partners.
Compliance with Laws
This Code of Conduct does not replace legislation. NIMO shall always comply with applicable laws and regulations, and we expect the same from our business partners. In cases where this Code of Conduct conflicts with legislation, the law shall prevail. However, where this Code of Conduct sets a higher standard than existing legislation, the Code of Conduct shall apply.
The Code of Conduct is based on our vision and policies, as well as the principles of the UN Global Compact and the core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO). NIMO regards legal requirements and international conventions in these areas as minimum standards that guide sustainable business practices.
Each employee is responsible for understanding and complying with the content of the Code of Conduct. Managers are responsible for ensuring that employees are informed about applicable policies. The Code of Conduct forms part of the onboarding process for all new employees.
Supplier Responsibilities
By accepting NIMO’s Code of Conduct, suppliers commit to complying with all applicable parts of it. As a business partner to NIMO, you are expected to understand the meaning of the Code of Conduct and apply it in all deliveries and assignments carried out for us. Business partners are also responsible for ensuring that any subcontractors comply with the contents of the Code of Conduct.
We encourage all partners to work proactively and continuously improve within the areas described in this Code of Conduct. Partners should also have systems in place to identify, address, and prevent deficiencies and deviations.
Supplier Follow-Up
NIMO may monitor business partners’ compliance with this Code of Conduct through site inspections or other methods. During such follow-ups, business partners are expected to provide requested information and cooperate fully.
If NIMO becomes aware of actions or conditions that are not in line with this Code of Conduct, we may require the business partner to take necessary corrective actions.
Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in NIMO terminating purchases or other agreements with the business partner without liability toward NIMO.
Business Ethics
Acting responsibly and ethically in all relationships and conducting business in accordance with good business practices are fundamental principles for NIMO. We do not accept any form of corruption, bribery, or unethical conduct involving employees or business partners.
As a business partner to NIMO, you shall:
Conduct legitimate business operations and maintain high standards regarding information security, integrity, and transparency.
Have zero tolerance for bribery, corruption, money laundering, and illegal payments, as well as systematic processes to detect, manage, and prevent corruption.
Comply with competition laws and conduct business in fair competition with other market participants.
Avoid situations that may lead to conflicts of interest, for example where personal interests may influence business decisions.
Any suspected irregularities involving NIMO must be reported to your contact person at NIMO.
Human Rights
Diversity and Equality
We recognize the value of people’s diverse experiences and knowledge and respect every individual’s right to be themselves. We are committed to maintaining an environment based on respect for each person’s unique and equal value. We realize everyone’s full potential by promoting an inclusive culture regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, disability, or age.
Child Labour
We do not accept child labour and support the ILO Convention on Minimum Age. All children under the age of 18 must be protected from work that may be harmful to their physical or mental health, negatively affect their education, or expose them to economic exploitation.
Forced Labour
No form of forced labour or work linked to punishment is permitted. Employees must have freedom of movement during their employment. Employers may not confiscate identity cards, travel documents, or other important personal documents in a way that prevents employees from terminating their employment.
Responsible Sourcing of Minerals
Conflict minerals are minerals sourced from conflict-affected areas that directly or indirectly finance armed groups likely to commit serious human rights violations. Suppliers shall comply with all applicable laws regarding the responsible sourcing of conflict minerals.
Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
NIMO respects employees’ rights to organize — or not organize — in trade unions and to negotiate collectively or individually in accordance with local laws. No employee shall risk harassment or retaliation for exercising these rights.
Employment Contracts, Working Conditions, and Compensation
Working hours shall comply with national legislation. Employees shall receive at least the minimum wage in accordance with local laws and regulations. Overtime shall be compensated according to national law, and wages shall be paid regularly. Wage deductions must be transparent and may never be used as a disciplinary measure.
All employees shall have a written, understandable, and legally binding employment contract. Employers may not systematically use part-time, short-term, temporary workers, interns, or false apprenticeship contracts in order to pay lower wages or provide fewer benefits.
Employees on parental leave must not be dismissed or threatened with dismissal and shall have the opportunity to return to their previous position under the same terms and benefits.
Equal Value for All
NIMO values and promotes diversity and equality. We are committed to maintaining an environment based on respect for each person’s unique and equal value and recognize everyone’s full potential through an inclusive culture.
Discrimination and Harassment
Throughout the value chain, human rights must be respected, and employees shall be treated fairly, equally, and with respect. NIMO opposes all forms of discrimination, harassment, and abusive treatment and shall take action to combat discrimination on these grounds. All forms of discrimination and harassment must be addressed and resolved promptly, with consideration for the affected individual.
Health, Safety, and Working Environment
NIMO works to maintain a safe, healthy, and positive working environment for both employees and everyone present in our operations. Risks that may lead to accidents or ill health shall be addressed immediately.
Working Environment
NIMO’s work environment efforts comply with applicable occupational health and safety legislation. For NIMO, a safe workplace includes proactive risk management, competence to perform tasks safely, open dialogue, continuous improvement, clean workplaces, safe production machinery, and compliance with instructions regarding personal protective equipment and work equipment. NIMO actively works with attitudes and behaviors to achieve a strong safety culture.
Business partners shall ensure that employees and subcontractors have the competence, training, and equipment required to perform their duties safely.
Hazardous materials and dangerous equipment shall be stored, handled, and transported in accordance with applicable legislation. Emergency exits must be clearly marked and may not be blocked. All employees shall be informed about safety measures such as emergency exits, fire extinguishers, first aid equipment, and other life-saving procedures.
Environment
NIMO actively works to reduce the environmental impact of our operations, focusing on products, transportation, energy use, and recycling, while integrating environmental considerations throughout our business.
Suppliers to NIMO commit to implementing policies and guidelines for their manufacturing processes and continuously improving their environmental performance while minimizing resource consumption and emissions. Suppliers shall strive to apply a life-cycle perspective regarding the environmental impact of products.
Product Content
The use of chemicals and hazardous substances shall be avoided whenever possible or limited to an absolute minimum.
Monitoring Swedish and international legislation regarding permitted substances and the use of hazardous materials is considered essential. NIMO expects products and services to comply with applicable legal and safety requirements, and suppliers must have systems in place to ensure compliance with current environmental protection laws and regulations.
